Waterjet Three Dimensional Cutting

There are two subgroups of 3D waterjet applications: robotic applications, where the waterjet cutting head is mounted on a robotic arm, and cutting tables, where, in addition to the X, Y, and Z axes, rotation and swivel axes are used.

Robotic water jet applications are able to cut materials such as headliners, dashboards, door panels and other parts with extreme bends and overall depth. Speeds of cut and part cycle time are very important considerations with 3D water jet cutting systems.

A water jet cutting head with 5-Axis can cut chamfers, holes in tubes, and cones from flat material sheets. While these machines come with a higher price, they have extreme versatility, and can be used in the most advanced waterjet metal cutting applications.
