What is the Waterjet Cutting Process?

Using precision machines and a high level of care, KMT Waterjet produces advanced, high tech waterjet machines able to cut nearly any material. Waterjet machines pressurize water up to 4.136 bar.

The high pressure water is then focused into a tight stream by a diamond or sapphire orifice ranging in diameter from 0,1mm to 0.7mm. The stream is then used to cut soft materials or is mixed with an abrasive (garnet) to creat an abrasive waterjet stream.

In both applications, pure water and abrasive waterjet cutting, the applications can be broken down by dimension.

One Dimensional Cutting

Characterised by high speeds, stationary heads and typically pure water only

Two Dimensional Cutting

2 dimension cutting tables with x, y and z axies are used for rapid productions of different types of parts

Three Dimensional Cutting

Multi-axes cutting tables with additional rotation and swivel axies

Robotic Applications

Cuttings heads are mounted on a robotic arm
