FEEDLINE IV
Abrasive Metering System

Optimized abrasive consumption for customized needs

Stable and repeatable operating parameters are a fundamental requirement needed for a high quality waterjet cut. This is especially valid for abrasive applications and cutting of brittle materials, where a constant flow of sand is simply a must. The FEEDLINE IV was designed to guarantee exactly that. CNC controller integrated or potentiometer controlled, the unit always supplies a constant mass flow rate and lets you save abrasive and costs.

What is FEEDLINE IV needed for? - The Venturi effect is used in Waterjet cutting in order to provide a defined quantity of abrasive at the exit of the focusing tube. Without the feeding unit, the mixing chamber would become plugged because of an overflow of abrasive transferred to the head. This makes the necessity for a precise and fully adjustable unit like the FEEDLINE IV undeniable.

How does the FEEDLINE IV work? - The sand is transferred to the 0,8 litre transfer tank with the assistance of compressed air. At the bottom of the transfer tank, the abrasive exits onto a feeding wheel with an infinitely variable rotating speed. The grit size, as well as the distance between the exit and the wheel, as well as the rpm’s determine the feed rate of the unit.

Standalone or integrated use - The standard feed rates can be stored in the CNC controller of the machine, and transferred to the FEEDLINE IV via the electronic control card. The rate can also be adjusted via external potentiometer. The precise work of each cutting head is controlled by an individual FEEDLINE IV unit.

Proportional adjustment saves you costs - The infinitely variable control is completely adjustable in a linear fashion up to a feed rate of 1000 g/min (for the most widely used “80 Mesh” sand). This maximum flow rate can be easily further increased by simply replacing a shim. This feature is especially valuable for machine operators with diverse materials and thicknesses, greatly reducing operating costs. Thin materials require low abrasive feed rates, for thicker jobs the abrasive quantity goes up proportionally. You control the abrasive flow needed for the right quality for the job.

Compact design enables easy installation - The entire component weighs only 2.8 kg. The light design allows the FEEDLINE IV to be mounted directly on the motion system in order to minimize the abrasive hose length, which directly contributes to the quality of the cutting edge of the workpiece.
